2. World Politics and Sweden
Sweden stayed neutral during world war I and II. Though there was some peripheral participation involved during both war because of German dominance over Sweden. Sweden had supplied steel and equipment during World War II to Germany. In the year 1943, Sweden was active in rescuing Danish and Hungarian Jews from deportation to Nazi concentration camps.
European Free Trade Area (EFTA)- Sweden was one of the seven founding members of creating EFTA. The group of the country, often known as “Outer Seven.”
European Union- Sweden join the European Union in 1995.
Lisbon Treaty- Sweden signed the Lisbon treaty in 2007.
Non-align Military- Sweden remained a non-align military country. Though the Swedish military had participated in an international military operation in several foreign countries like Afghanistan, Kosova, Bosnia, and Cyprus.
