Family Trip to Rishikesh: Our Camping, Trekking and Rafting Experience in Rishikesh (2024)
Family Trip to Rishikesh
Hello Everyone, my name is Ashima and I am sharing my experience of our family trip to Rishikesh with you all.
Rishikesh is a city in Northern India in the state of Uttarakhand. It is situated in the foothills of Himalaya along the river Ganga. Rishikesh is famous for its religious places, adventure activities, and trekking. This amazing place in Uttarakhandis also known as the world capital of Yoga and is very popular among tourists and locals seeking spirituality and peace. The famous Laxman Jhula is in Rishikesh.
We visited Rishikesh last year in the month of March. My husband had already visited this place twice before our trip together. The weather was pleasant although a little hot during the day but that was bearable as it was not humid.
We had a reservation in camps in Byasi and the tents and the surroundings were clean. People can also opt to stay in camps on the riverside in Rishikesh.
We had rafting planned for the next day. We did not do the complete stretch but did only 9 km stretch from the Shivpuri point. The experience of rowing the boat yourself was great and there are points in the river where you can get down and get drenched but remember it’s hard to come on the boat again.
Do not forget to try the maggie and tea at the tuck shops.
The next day we went trekking. For people planning to visit Rishikesh, it is important to take a good walking shoes as the terrains are not very wide and some parts are slippery too. After the trek, once you reach the top the view one sees is breathtaking. Make it a point to carry with yourself a small first-aid box and bottle of water. We had a guide from the campsite with us to guide us through the trek.
The other time we just had a relaxed evening, played different sports (we got the equipment at the camp), indulged in some light walks and camp food.
All in all our short trip to Rishikesh was a great experience and the place is worth visiting again and again. There are other adventure activities in Rishikesh like bungee jumping, free fall etc. but we did not get to try any of it in this trip to Rishikesh but we will visit once again to experience the adventure activities there.
Rafting charges are different and vary as per the distance and camps.
Trekking can be included in your package as per your booking.
