Neermahal, literally meaning Water Palace, is one of the most beautiful attractions of this state. Neermahal is also called Twijilikma Nuyung. Neermahal of Tripura is a highly picturesque palace that is like no other. Located 53 Km from Tripura’s capital city, Agartala, this architectural beauty is a visitor delight. Its construction was started in 1930 A.D. and completed in 1938 A.D. Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya built it as the summer residence. There are only two water palaces in the country, the other one being the Jal Mahal in Rajasthan. About Neermahal or the Water Palace:

The Neermahal or the Water Palace is surrounded by green lawns and flower beds that add to its remarkable beauty. A boat ride is a must to reach the palace. During the evenings at Neermahal, there is a display of light, and sound show that creates awareness of the place’s rich cultural heritage. The most adventurous thing about the palace is that it hosts some water sports activities, which makes it a perfect place for some great views and thrill. The palace is also very famous for its ‘Neermahal Water Festival, which is celebrated for three days. People in large groups gather and visit the palace to take part in the boat races. Neermahal, near Agartala in Tripura, is undoubtedly worth visiting. Apart from this, a swimming competition is also organized. There is a division in the palace where one part is the western side of the palace known as the Andar Mahal, made for the royal family. The second part, its eastern side, is an open-air theatre where theatre, dance, and other cultural events were organized to entertain the king and their royal families. The palace consists of 24 rooms in total. One needs to pay for the boat ride and the entry fee for the palace as well.
