1. Clouded Leopard National Park

The Clouded leopard national park is one of its kind in the country. The park is located in the Sepahijala wildlife sanctuary. It is covered in an area of around 5 square km. It is home to four different species of primate monkey, which includes Phayre’s Langur. This park was established in 2007 and is a perfect place for nature and adventure seekers. It also has a wide range of birds, primates, and other animals. There are about 150 species of birds inside the park. Since National parks are developed for the protection and betterment of wildlife and biodiversity, hunting, poaching, and grazing on cultivation is prohibited.

2. Rajbari National Park (Bison national Park)

The national park is located in Trishna wildlife sanctuary in an area of about 31.6 square km. It is very famous and one of the major tourist attractions in the state of Tripura. The natural beauty makes it a highly picturesque spot. Many wild animals, including the world-famous Indian Gaur (also known as Bison), deer, Golden langurs, Pheasants, and many more endangered species, are sheltered to the park. In regards to rich flora, there are several herbs, shrubs, climbers found in the park. A large number of bamboo trees and plants with medicinal value can also be spotted inside the park.

A safari ride or a walk through the park is a visual treat for all nature lovers to experience the park’s rich biodiversity. The Sanctuary is closed on Fridays.

1. Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary

The biggest wildlife sanctuary in Tripura, located in Bishalgarh at around 25 Km from the city center in about 18 square kilometers. An artificial lake along with natural zoological and botanical gardens make for an amazing sight in the Sanctuary. The Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary is famous for its clouded leopard enclosures. There is a wide range of birds, primates, and other animals. More than 150 species of birds and the distinctive bespectacled monkey Phayre’s Langur can be sighted in the Sanctuary.

The Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary, which was started in 1972, has five sections: carnivores, primates, ungulates, reptiles, and aviary. Lakes also form an integral part of the Sanctuary, like Amrit Sagar lake, which also has a boating facility. The Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary in Tripura also has accommodation services for an adventurous experience. The dark bungalow, Abasarika, near the botanical garden, zoo, and boating lake, are major tourist attractions offering splendid views and an enthralling experience. A zoo inside the Sanctuary is almost 3-4 Km and is an ideal place for all adventure lovers. There is a separate fee for the camera and parking. The Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary in Tripura is closed on Fridays.

2. Trishna Wildlife Sanctuary

Trishna wildlife sanctuary is located in South Tripura District. It is located in an area of around 193 square km. The Sanctuary was established in 1988. There are several perennial water rivulets, water bodies, and grassland. The famous Rajbari National park is located within the Trishna wildlife sanctuary. The main attraction is the India gaur (Bison). Other than the Bison, there are also various birds, deer, gibbon, golden langur, pheasant, and many other animals and reptiles in the Trishna wildlife sanctuary. There are four types of forests in this Sanctuary: Tropical Semi-Evergreen Forest, East Himalayan lower Bhabar sal, Moist mixed deciduous Forest, Savannah woodland. The exquisite lake situated in the park is an excellent spot for a picnic and some leisure time. A safari ride with guides is an eventful experience in the Trishna wildlife sanctuary in Tripura. Boating facilities are also available at the park at reasonable charges. The Sanctuary is closed on Tuesdays.

3. Gumti Wildlife Sanctuary

The Gumti Wildlife Sanctuary is located in South Tripura region in an area of almost 390 Km. It is home to Asian elephants, Sambar, Deer, Water buffalo, Phayre’s Leaf Monkey, wild goat, and some migratory bird species. The Gumti Wildlife Sanctuary in Tripura also has a variety of reptiles.

There is also a big water reservoir in the Sanctuary. The Sanctuary can be reached via Ambassa and Gandachara or via Ambasa – Jatanbari. Winters are the best time to visit the Gumti Wildlife Sanctuary.

4. Rowa Wildlife Sanctuary

Rowa wildlife sanctuary is located in North Tripura district, in an area of only 0.86 square km. It has natural forests that are easily accessible to tourists. Some wild animals and around 150 species of birds are sighted in the Rowa wildlife sanctuary in Tripura. The Sanctuary is accessible throughout the year. It is a famous place amongst the Botanists and environmentalists for their research work. The Sanctuary is closed on Thursdays.
