Afantou is a small town about 19 km southeast of the city center of Rhodes in Greece. The Afantou means an invisible village due to the fact that it could not be seen from the sea. The people from the coastal area near the Afantou often use to hide in the town of Afantou when the coast was captured by pirates before the Roman era. The village is inhabited by 7,500 people and most residences are skilled in carpet building. Most tourists come to the village to see the Church of Our Lady Katholiki, Afantou. The town has few shops that sell locally made carpets and few sculptures. The tourist also spends a few hours at the beach and coffee shops on the beach. There are middle-end hotels in the town for a reasonable price and apartments to rent for family and couples
