Madhuri Lake is a beautiful and astounding lake in Arunachal Pradesh. Madhuri Lake, which was originally known as Sangestar Tso Lake, is one such spectacular beauty. The lake is a remarkable combination of rocky mountains, and the ever-present lake makes for an impressive view. The lake was made popular after a famous Bollywood song from the movie Koyla was shot here with Madhuri Dixit as the lead actress, and that is the reason it is now known as Madhuri Lake after the actress’s name. The Madhuri lake or the Sangestar Tso lake was formed due to an earthquake, which was a grassland earlier. The lake is surrounded by picturesque and beautiful snow-capped mountains making it a perfect place to create unforgettable memories and experience recreational activities.

Photography is an ideal thing to do here. Along with it, the route to Shonga-tser is dotted with many small lakes. People can also enjoy stopping by these places as well for some great views.

1. Tawang Monastery

The Tawang Monastery is also known by the name Golden Namgyal Lhatse, is one of the most significant and famous tourist destinations in Arunachal Pradesh. The monastery is the biggest monastery in the country and second-largest in the world, the first one being Lhasa, which is located at the height of 3,000 meters above sea level. The monastery is believed to be around 400 years old, has controlling rights over 17 gompas in the region. It has over 300 monks in the monastery. It offers some stunning views of the Tawang-Chu valley. There is an important and prominent attraction, 8 meters tall Lord Buddha statue.

The monastery is a three-storeyed building and was founded by Merak Lama Lodre Gyamtso to fulfill the wish of Nagwang Lobsang Gyatso, the 5th Dalai Lama, in 1860-61.
The main temple, Dukhang, is an architectural marvel with beautiful artwork and paintings of Bodhisattvas. There is also a library which has valuable old scriptures like Kangyur and Tengyur. Festivals are also celebrated at the monastery, which is a memorable experience to be cherished.

2. Nuranang Falls (Jung Falls)

Nuranang Falls (Bong Bong Falls) is a 100 meters high falls in the Tawang district. This brilliant beauty is not a very popular destination. These falls are situated around two kilometers from the town of Jang on the road connecting Tawang and Bomdila, and that is why it is also known as the Jung Falls. There is a Hydel plant near the base of the falls to generate electricity for local use. A popular myth is associated with these falls, as per which both the Nuranang river and Nuranang falls were named after a girl from the local Monpa tribe named Nura who had helped a soldier, Rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat, in the 1962 Sino-Indian War but was later captured by China. This stunning attraction is a must-visit for all tourists.
