Qila Mubarak, Nabha, is one of the ancient fortresses in India. It is majorly related to Sikh architecture, and its location is in the city of Patiala. Qila Mubarak, Nabha, was first built as a mud fortress by the Jat ruler Baba Ala Singh in 1763. Baba Ala Singh was the person who founded the Patiala dynasty. Further on, baked bricks were used for its reconstruction. The inner part of the building, known as Qila Androon, is built by the legendary king Maharaja Amar Singh. The Qila Androon had thirteen royal chambers with pictures from the Hindu mythology. The paintings related to Hinduism are painted in the art style of Patiala.

Qila Mubarak, Nabha, was known to be the residential palace of the Royal family of Patiala. The whole complex is built in ten-acre ground and is located in the middle of the city. The entire complex is beautiful, glorified, and maintained properly. It majorly is divided into two sections, the Ran Baas, which is a guest house, and the Darbar Hall, which is known to be a Divan Khana. The darbar hall majorly has all those rare cannons, swords, daggers, shields, and maces of Guru Gobind Singh and the sword of Nadir Shah. Qila Mubarak, Nabha, is a three-hundred-year-old building described as being in terrible shape. Significant parts of the Qila was damaged by the Mughals and later on, by the Englishmen. The World Monuments Fund described the fortress as one of the world’s most endangered monuments in 2004.

The Indian National Trust for Arts and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) is doing the restoration work of this Qila. The state and national governments financially help the INTACH. Whereas, the Archaeological Survey of India and the World Monuments Watch has also funded in preserving the Qila Mubarak, Nabha.

Gurudwara Dukh Nivaran Sahib holds a great past and is situated close to the Patiala bus stand. The history of this Gurudwara is proved by an old handwritten document whose preservation is in the Gurudwara. There is a saying that Bhag Ram, a shiver of Legal patience, patiently waited for the ninth Sikh Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur, during his break at Saifabad.
