1. Tripura Sundari Temple
About the temple: A Hindu temple where the main deity is Goddess Tripura Sundari, also locally known as Devi Tripureshwari. Tripura Sinduri temple in Udaipur is also famously known by the name of Matabari. The sacred site is set on a small hill, and the shape is similar to that of a hump of a tortoise (Kurma). This shape is known as Kurmapṛṣá¹haká¹›ti. It is held as the holiest site for a Shakti temple, so the name Kurma Pitha.
The traditional Brahmin priests perform the rituals. The holy shrine in Udaipur is considered as one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. As per a belief, the little finger of the left leg of Sati (Hindu Goddess) fell here. The temple consists of two similar but varied sized black stone idols of the Goddess. The larger idol is of Goddess Tripura Sundari is around 5 feet tall, and the smaller one, warmly called Chhoto-Ma (meaning Little Mother), is 2 feet tall and is the idol of Goddess Chandi. It is believed that Tripura’s kings always carried the smaller idol to the battlefield. The Peda is the common prasadam, and Red Hibiscus is offered to the main deity.

Construction: The temple was built in 1501A.D. by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya. The temple has a square-shaped chamber built in a typical Bengali hut structure and has a conical dome. There is a famous lake called Kalyan Sagar Lake on the temple’s eastern side where huge sized fishes and tortoises can be spotted and fed puffed rice and biscuits. Also, Fishing is not permitted in the Kalyan Sagar lake.
Tourist Attraction: Apart from the wonderful architecture, the popular Diwali Mela that occurs every year on Diwali near the temple is a major attraction for all pilgrims and tourists in Udaipur.

2. Neermahal
Neermahal, meaning Water Palace, is one of the most stunning attractions of the Tripura state and is located at a distance of 25 Kms from Udaipur. The palace has attractive and beautiful architecture. The construction of the palace was started in 1930 A.D. and completed in 1938 A.D. It was built as a summer residence by Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya. The country has only two water palaces, and the other one being the Jal Mahal in Rajasthan. The palace is built in the middle of the renowned Rudrasagar Lake, which is also a popular tourist spot.
The Neermahal palace’s beauty is enhanced by the lovely green lawns and flower beds that surround the palace. A boat ride is needed to reach the palace. There is a light and sound show in the evenings that creates awareness of the place’s rich cultural heritage. Another interesting thing about the palace is that it offers excellent water sports activities, making it an ideal place for some adventure. The palace is also famous for its ‘Neermahal Water Festival, which is celebrated for three days. Boat race and swimming competition are organized during the festival, and people gather in huge crowds to be a part of the celebration. The enthralling events and the delicious Tripuri cuisine make this event more enjoyable and delightful. An entry fee is applicable for both boat rides and entry to the palace.

3. Rudrasagar Lake (Twijilikma)
Rudrasagar lake, for its conservation and sustainable use based on its bio-diversity and socio-economic importance, has been declared a wetland of national and international importance. The other name for the Lake is also Twijilikma. The Lake has been declared a wetland of international importance by the Ramsar Convention. It is one of the must-visit tourist destination near Udaipur in Tripura.
It is spread over an area of 2.5 Km square and is a natural sedimentation reservoir which receives flow from three streams: Noacherra, Durlavnaraya cherra, and Kemtali cherra. The lake water is fresh with minor pollution, and its depth is varied from 2 to 9 m.
The Rudrasagar Lake is an upcoming significant Bird area attracting many waterfowl in the winters. Few of the rare species like the endangered Baer’s Pochard and near-threatened Ferruginous duck have been spotted. The Rudrasagar Lake is an important tourist destination as the famous Neermahal (Water Palace) is situated on the banks of Rudrasagar lake.

4. Sepahijala Wildlife sanctuary
The sanctuary is situated in an area of approximately 18 Km in Bishalgar, which is the biggest wildlife sanctuary in Tripura. The sanctuary has an artificial lake and natural zoological and botanical gardens, which are a major part of the sanctuary. The sanctuary attracts tourists in large numbers for its clouded leopard enclosures and is must visit place near Udaipur in Tripura. The sanctuary provides shelter to a wide range of birds, primates, and other animals. Around 150 species of birds and the distinctive bespectacled monkey Phayre’s Langur are also sheltered to this place.
It was initiated in 1972 and has five sections: carnivores, primates, ungulates, reptiles, and aviary. Lakes are an essential part of the sanctuary, and one such Lake is Amrit Sagar, where boating can be enjoyed. The forest also has provisions for accommodation, which are ideal for a night adventure. The Abasarika, a dark bungalow near the botanical garden, zoo, and boating, offer an amazing experience to all tourists. A separate fee is applicable for the camera and parking. The sanctuary is open throughout the week except on Fridays.
