The castle or the fortress at Kruje is located about 54 km north of the city of Tirana. The castle of Kruje was the center of several battles during the year 1450 and 1467.
The battles were fought between Skanderberg’s rebellions and the Ottoman Empire. 
The castle of Kruje has a museum that was built in 1980 and the Turkish bath arena. Inside the Kruje castle is a spacious national museum that hosts exhibits, ruins, and artifacts of various Albanian civilization periods from the 15th century.
