Aalborg city is about 130 km (81 miles) from Thy National Park. The population of the town is 212,000 people. Aalborg is the northernmost 4th largest city of Denmark and residents often experience a bitter cold during winter. Aalborg city was built in AD 700. The harbor has been used for centuries to move cargo as well as people to various islands near and far from the town.

- Budolfi Cathedral- The original cathedral was built in the 14th century. Christian missionary arrived in the 9th century in Denmark. The churches were constructed from stones and timber. The records of the 13th and 14th centuries suggest the first Budolfi church built was very small. Later in the 16th and17 century, the church was expanded and the tower was added. - The Futuristic House of Music- The Futuristic House of Music is a cultural center opened for public in March 2014. The place is shared for practice and performance by the Aalborg Symphony Orchestra and Royal Academy of music. The modern facility also used for private shows. - The Aalborg Historical Museum- This museum tells the city’s 1,000-year history. The museum has several exhibits that describe and shows the history of Aalborg since year 900.
