Gilleleje: The Church Town Attraction of Denmark (2024)
Gilleleje is a small town 60 km (37 miles) north of Copenhagen and 30 km (19 miles) east of Helesingor in Northern Zealand Peninsula. The total population of the town is 6,600 people.
The Gilleleje town is also known as a fisherman town. Most tourists from Copenhagen first visit the Kronborg castle and then come to Gilleleje. Most of the houses in the Gilleleje town are built in the 16th and 17th centuries.
Tourists come to the Gilleleje town to see the Church built in the 15th century and fishing port. The church is known as Gilleleje Church. Visitors to Denmark often travel by train and local buses to visit Kronborg castle and Gilleleje church.
