The Roman Agora is less than one km from Athens city center. The Roman Agora is located north of the Acropolis. Roman Agora was built to be used as an open-air courtyard.
The courtyard, Roman Agora, has several series of columns on all four sides. The demolished and ruined structure around the pillars of the Roman Agora indicates there were several shops on the east side and fountain on the south end of the courtyard.
According to archaeologists, Roman Agora perhaps was built in the 1st century BC with the funds of Julius Ceasar and Augustus based on the inscriptions found.
This site was destroyed by Venetians and Ottomans.
