The island of Hven (Ven Island) is located west of the coast of Sweden and east of Denmark. The tourist visiting Sweden can take a ferry or passenger boat ride from Malmo, Landskrona, or Borstahussen. The Landskrona is about 44 km (27 miles) from the city of Malmo. The driving time could be about 45 minutes. Most tourists stop at other attractions on the way to Landskrona and then take a boat ride to the island of Hven.
The Hven island is small and about 7.5 square kilometers (2.9 per square mile) in the area. The island was known for farming and research in astronomy in the 15th and 16th centuries. The island has been under Swedish authorities since 1658. The two churches built in the 13th century is an attraction for most tourist coming from other Scandinavian countries. The tourist to Sweden often come to the island with an organized tour or ferry. The regular boats are available from Landskrona, Helsingborg, and Copenhagen. Most visitors either join the tourist group or drive to one of these towns to take the ferry.
